I hear from women weekly who tell me that they feel like they are going out of their mind, that they’re sure that they have dementia and that they cannot sleep to save their lives.

They also tell me that they don’t know how their family still loves them ~ they are crabby, irritable and they no longer feel like themselves.

And my response? CHECK YOUR HORMONES.

Estrogen receptors are WIDELY distributed in the brain my friends which means that we need optimal levels of this hormone for our mood to be stable and our brain to be working in tip-top form.

Progesterone receptors are found in the brain as well and we often find that when progesterone levels decline (which they do beginning in our mid to late 30’s), we get more anxious and we often have difficulty sleeping.

Testosterone has a ton of important benefits in the body but when it comes to brain health, it plays a key role in protecting the brain from age-related changes that are linked to Alzheimer’s disease and other age-related diseases.

Our hormones are EVERYTHING ~ they are key to feeling happy, healthy and strong through midlife and beyond. If you need some help teasing out your hormone imbalances, then download my Hormone Imbalance Workbook now to get some insight into where there may be opportunities for improvement.

And consider looking for a practitioner who understands the world of hormones deeply and is willing to partner with you on your journey through perimenopause and beyond.
