THE DETAILS
As Michael Pollan says, “If it was grown on a plant, not made in a plant, then you can keep it in your kitchen. If it is something your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food, throw it out (like a “Lunchable” or Go-gurt”). Stay away from “foodlike substances.”
MASTERING YOUR FOOD ENVIRONMENT IS THE KEY TO EATING WELL. IF YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH NOURISHING FOODS, THEN IT STANDS TO REASON THAT WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY, YOU WILL REACH FOR SOMETHING THAT WILL NOURISH YOUR BODY AND POSITIVELY IMPACT THE HEALTH OF YOUR CELLS.
I don’t believe in diets, and I don’t believe in food “rules” per se. Instead, I like to follow the “real food” way of eating, focusing on a plant-based diet without processed food. In addition to plants, you may choose to eat grass-fed meat, pasture raised chicken and eggs, organic grass-fed dairy, fish or seafood, beans, and legumes or quality whole grains.
It’s up to you! What works best for one person, doesn’t always work well for another person, and the best way to determine what works best for your body is to listen to your body for feedback.
Headaches, bloating, weight gain, fatigue, cravings, gut issues, joint issues, PMS, and irritability are your body’s way of signaling that there may be a deeper imbalance. Take time to listen to those little biological taps on your shoulder and make a commitment today that you will choose foods that nourish your body, rather than harm your precious body.
